The judicial processes of a massive illegal betting and gambling operation centered in Kocaeli and spanning 31 provinces have concluded, and details regarding the operation have become clear. Coordinated by the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out by the Provincial Police Department Cyber Crime Branch teams following lengthy technical and physical surveillance, simultaneous raids were conducted on numerous addresses targeting the criminal organization's activities. In this context, 120 suspects taken into custody were referred to judicial authorities after the completion of police procedures. Following the prosecutor's interrogation and judicial evaluations, 101 of the suspects referred to the courthouse were arrested and sent to prison, while a decision was made to release 19 suspects under judicial control measures.

Evidence obtained within the scope of the investigation and financial analyses revealed that the criminal organization had a wide structure and used sophisticated methods to conceal its activities. It was determined that the suspects established 15 shell companies to launder the illicit gains they obtained through illegal betting and gambling sites and to hide their unlawful activities. It was detected that organization members, who sought to mask the flow of money added to the system through these shell companies, also used gold trading and crypto asset accounts to create a massive transaction volume of 6 billion 657 million 746 thousand lira. The prosecutor's office, which deciphered the organization's financial network, had initiated a detailed examination to determine the source and destination of these funds.

The investigation into the matter was deepened, and efforts continued to apprehend other perpetrators who could not be caught in previous simultaneous operations; 15 more suspects were detained, bringing the total number of suspects to 120. In the operations that took place on June 30 and affected 31 provinces across Turkey, extensive searches were conducted at the suspects' residences and workplaces. Police teams seized a large number of digital materials and devices to resolve the criminal organization's communication network and digital infrastructure; these data were handed over to expert teams for examination.

During the searches, important findings regarding the criminal organization's threat of violence were also reached, and weapons were seized during searches at the addresses where the suspects were located. 2 pistols and 108 cartridges belonging to these pistols, which were considered criminal elements by the judicial authorities and found in need of explanation, were handed over to the security forces by the police teams. The seized weapons and ammunition created strong indications that the organization was structured not only financially but also as a physical force and was prepared against the possibility of violence. These pieces of evidence were added to the file with the request for heavier sanctions to be imposed on the suspects.

Evaluated from a general perspective, this Kocaeli-centered operation appears to be one of the most comprehensive and effective operations conducted against criminal organizations operating under the guise of illegal betting and gambling games in our country. While the incident constitutes a major crime in terms of both its financial magnitude and organizational structure, the numerous digital evidence, weapons, and determinations regarding shell companies show that all aspects of the crime's organization have been deciphered. The large number of arrests was the most important factor in dismantling the network, while an intensive surveillance mechanism has been put in place to ensure that those released under judicial control do not continue their activities.
