Armed attack in Kuşadası: 1 person dead, 3 suspects detained

One person lost their life in an armed attack that took place in the early hours of the morning in the Kuşadası district of Aydın. The incident occurred around 05:45 on Kaleiçi Sakarya Street in the Camikebir Neighborhood of the district. According to initial information, an individual named Abdulkadir Ataş was attacked by gunfire for a reason that has not yet been determined. Ataş was wounded by a bullet in the left armpit area during the attack and, despite all interventions made at the scene, could not be saved and lost his life.

Security forces dispatched to the area immediately after the incident launched a comprehensive investigation and conducted an operation to capture the suspects. As a result of the work, three different suspects named M.E.B. (26), A.A. (27), and M.D. (28), thought to be connected to the incident, were detained by police teams after searches at their addresses. While the suspects are being taken to the police station for their statements to be taken and to clarify their roles in the incident, it has been learned that the forensic and prosecution processes have begun.

In the examinations carried out by police teams at the scene, security camera footage became an important reference point for illuminating the incident. Cameras of surrounding businesses and residences are being reviewed to analyze the moments of the attack. Additionally, the ballistic examination of the weapon thought to have been used in the incident and the comparison of bullet casings are being carried out in detail. The technical evidence obtained is being meticulously evaluated by the prosecution to identify the shooter or shooters.

This fatal attack caused concern among the local population because it took place in a neighborhood in the center of Kuşadası, a tourist district. Residents of Camikebir Neighborhood and surrounding shopkeepers stated that they were shocked by the sound of gunshots and police sirens in the morning. While the residents expressed their sadness over such an incident occurring in their neighborhood, they welcomed the police's quick intervention and the detention of the suspects.

Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Kuşadası Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, extensive work is continuing. It was stated that additional detention periods could be requested from judicial authorities if the three detainees do not cooperate or if inconsistencies are found in their statements. The police continue to focus on both technical examinations and the statements of witnesses to clarify the cause of the incident and the victim's relationship with the suspects. Law enforcement units are working intensively for the incident to be illuminated in all aspects and for justice to be served.
