Successful Kentucky Derby-Themed Fundraising Event for a Charity in Kuzey Okanagan

Kuzey Okanagan Hospice Society enthusiastically celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Hospice House building by organizing a Kentucky Derby-themed garden party to raise funds. Held this spring, the event took place at The Edge Restaurant with its spectacular views. Eighty-five guests attending the event enjoyed chic appetizers served on silver trays accompanied by sparkling champagne. Guests experienced much more than an ordinary fundraising campaign, having an enjoyable time while supporting a meaningful cause. The event went down in history as an unforgettable day where stylish outfits and community spirit were showcased together.

The attendees showed great care by participating in the event with magnificent hats, elegant dresses, and meticulously prepared suits in accordance with the Kentucky Derby theme. While attire stood out as one of the most attention-grabbing details of the day, participants were awarded prizes in various categories such as Best Dressed, Best Hat, Stylish Man of the Derby, Best Duo, and Dominating the Stage. Thus, guests who expressed their creativity were rewarded, and the festive atmosphere of the venue was further enhanced. After the fun competitions and award ceremonies ended, guests continued to spend time at lawn games, tossing areas, a photo shoot booth, and a flower bar. In addition, raffle draws that excited the participants throughout the day attracted great interest.

Perhaps the most entertaining and inherently extraordinary part of the day was the creative race using 'pool noodles' in place of traditional horse races. Guests had the opportunity to watch these exciting races with creative names such as 'Tickled Pink', 'Sunny Side Up', 'Mint Condition Money Maker', 'Purple Reign', and 'Blue Suede Hooves'. The appearance of StrongHER Kickboxing and Self Defense members on the field in jockey outfits both made the crowd laugh and drew them into the event. Spectators contributed greatly to the cheerful atmosphere of the event by enthusiastically supporting their favorite 'horses'. These colorful moments proved once again that the event was not just a fundraising night, but also a unique celebration that reinforced the unity and solidarity of the community.

This special celebration, organized in honor of Hospice House which opened its doors on 12 Mart 2001, also brought to the stage the comprehensive work of the society, which has been providing compassionate service to residents of the region for 42 years. The critical importance of the society in the region was remembered by emphasizing that they have provided comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to thousands of Kuzey Okanagan families for over 25 years. In addition, 12 display boards, beautifully decorated like works of art prepared by local businesses, organizations, and community members, attracted the attention of donors by creating a colorful and creative competitive environment. This creative competition, which Sandi Dixon won by public vote and was rewarded with a 200 dolar gift card at The Edge Restaurant, also received great acclaim. At the end of this meaningful event, all guests took home garden shear sets, handmade by volunteers and donated by T&B Naturals, as souvenirs.

On this special day, where the funds raised would give significant momentum to the society's operations, many supporters who successfully concluded the event were not forgotten. Kris Fuller sincerely expressed her gratitude on behalf of the Kuzey Okanagan Hospice Society to all sponsors who provided prizes, auctions, and experiences. It was noted that the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) team supported the event both by sending five stylish volunteers and made a critical contribution to the campaign by providing a substantial donation of 1.500 dolar on the day. It was expressed that all these supports made the society's landmark celebration unforgettable and constituted a crucial step in carrying the palliative care services provided to the local public into the future for many years. This special anniversary event was both a beautiful tribute to the 25-year deep-rooted heritage of Hospice House and showed everyone the community's determination to embrace this meaningful service.
