Drug Operation in 3 Districts of Mersin: 26 Detained

A significant operation was carried out within the scope of the fight against drug dealers across Mersin province. The operation, planned under the coordination of the Anamur Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was conducted simultaneously at different points in the city at dawn. Following the interrogation process at the police department, the suspects, referred to the judicial authorities, had their statements and the reports prepared by the prosecutor examined. It was put into evaluation to bring the suspects before the on-duty magistrate after their interrogations and consider requests for detention or judicial control measures. Multi-dimensional investigations were conducted to reveal other connections in the market in order to deepen the investigation.

Regarding the issue, a joint written statement was made by the Mersin Provincial Police Department and the Anamur Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Authorities emphasized that the operation was part of the severe and determined fight against drug dealers in the city. The statement noted that operations against criminal organizations and individuals disturbing the public peace would continue uninterrupted. It was conveyed that citizens supporting security units and making reports in such situations play a major role in the success of the struggle. It was stated that the main goal was to save young people and society from the drug swamp and that the issue would be followed up.

On the other hand, it was announced that the suspects detained within the scope of the operation and against whom judicial proceedings were initiated were arrested by the court they were referred to and sent to prison. A broad data scan was initiated to determine whether the arrested individuals had records for similar crimes in other provinces within the country. Police sources stated that the investigation was not limited to the caught individuals but was expanded to catch other intermediaries thought to be supplying them with substances. It is expected that these studies carried out to ensure peace and security in Mersin will yield results and reduce drug usage rates in the province. With the successful operation, it is aimed to deliver a very harsh and deterrent message to those wishing to engage in drug trade in the city.
