The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is looking for volunteers through an unusual call for a critical project that will shape the future of space exploration. The agency has prepared a simulation in which selected individuals will live in a confined environment for approximately one year in order to understand the difficulties that will be experienced in real Moon and Mars missions. This study will provide essential data to ensure the safety of astronauts on their future expeditions and is planned to start in August 2027.

Conducted under the name Moon and Mars Exploration Analog (MMEA), the project has a unique structure that will be carried out in two different and isolated habitat environments. This comprehensive simulation aims to simulate a spacecraft and a space base environment at the same time by combining previous HERA (Human Exploration Research Analog) and CHAPEA (Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog) missions. During this period, volunteers will be subjected to living conditions similar to real astronauts, experiencing daily operations, work routines, and all psychological and physical effects of long space flights.

For NASA researchers, the most important goal of this mission is to deeply examine how the health and performance of individuals change under limited resources and constantly recurring demands. The data collected during this simulation will play a critical role in validating new technologies and protocols developed to preserve astronaut health and maximize their efficiency during space travel. The findings obtained will create a scientific foundation for planning future Moon and Mars expeditions by minimizing risks.

In order to participate in this challenging and long-term simulation, candidates must go through a quite strict and comprehensive selection process. Applicants are required to have reached a certain level of education, possess physical health conditions, and undergo multi-stage physical and psychological tests lasting a few days. In addition to technical competence, NASA counts candidates' sincere motivation and desire for such unique and challenging experiences among the most important criteria.

Candidates can currently submit their applications through the project's official website, and the process is open to everyone worldwide with suitable qualifications. As emphasized in the statements, this mission will not only provide a scientific contribution but also offer participants the opportunity to have an extraordinary experience they will never forget. While the selected teams are expected to play an important role in humanity's journey to expand the boundaries of space, the results are eagerly awaited by the whole world.
