Peddapalli MLA Accuses Harish Rao of Misleading the Public

Peddapalli MLA Ch. Vijayaramana Rao from the Karimnagar district of Telangana state criticized BRS leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao in harsh terms during a press conference, accusing him of making misleading statements against the state government. Rao claimed that the opposition leader was trying to tarnish the state administration by misleading the public and argued that such accusations were a sign of panic in the face of increasing public support. According to the statement, MLA Rao found the rival's claims to be contrary to fact, recalling the concrete progress made by the current government in the fields of agriculture and irrigation.

Vijayaramana Rao stated that significant amounts of water flowed into irrigation projects following the heavy rains experienced across the state in the last two years, revitalizing the agricultural sector. He expressed that during this period, the planting areas for staple crops such as rice and corn reached record levels and farmers were satisfied in terms of productivity, questioning the agricultural policies of past administrations. He emphasized that these positive developments in the agricultural sector, one of the cornerstones of the economy, refuted Harish Rao's negative portrayal and served as proof of the government's success.

Focusing particularly on the Thummidihutti–Chevella project, which was brought to the agenda in the past, he claimed that this project was redesigned by the previous government for its own interests and diverted from its purpose. Furthermore, he suggested that the Kaleshwaram project, considered one of the symbolic projects built at a huge cost of approximately 1 lakh crore (1 trillion rupees) during the BRS administration, suffered serious damage just two years after its completion. This situation led to debates regarding engineering errors and lack of oversight, creating doubts about the project's sustainability.

Continuing his speech by criticizing the technical design of the project, Rao expressed that water was taken from the river and discharged back into the same river, creating a meaningless cycle, and that this was a great waste. He argued that public resources were wasted in dams built on the Godavari river and that the economic feasibility of the project needed to be questioned, implying that the previous administration acted in violation of the principle of transparency. These claims sparked a new public debate regarding how effective water management policies are in the region.

Finally, Peddapalli MLA emphasized that Harish Rao needs to clearly explain to the public the real reasons behind the damage in the Kaleshwaram project and demanded that accountability be prioritized over political tactics. This event is evaluated as showing how party polarization in Telangana politics is sustained through water projects and how propaganda wars are heating up ahead of upcoming elections.
