PHC (Plantations et Huileries du Congo) once again emphasized its determination for a sustainable and inclusive palm oil sector at the 31st Ministers' Meeting (SOM31) of the Indonesia and Malaysia-based Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC). The company announced this commitment with the goal of raising environmental and social standards in the global palm oil industry. PHC plans to take significant steps, particularly in increasing palm oil production in Africa and including local communities in this process.

CPOPC, as a platform bringing together the world's largest palm oil producers, meets regularly to promote sustainable production practices and develop joint solutions to challenges in the sector. At the SOM31 meeting, member countries and private sector representatives discussed reducing the environmental impacts of palm oil, preventing deforestation, and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. PHC's presence at this meeting demonstrates the company's willingness to comply with global standards and adopt best practices in the sector.

As a major palm oil producer operating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, PHC aims to put sustainability principles at the center of its operations. The company plans to use environmentally friendly methods in its production processes and strengthen cooperation with local communities by increasing its participation in international certification programs such as RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil). In addition, PHC is committed to investing in education and health projects to reduce the social impacts of palm oil production.

At the SOM31 meeting, alongside PHC, other major producers also shared their sustainability goals. It was emphasized at the meeting that concrete steps need to be taken regarding deforestation, which is one of the biggest challenges facing the palm oil sector. In this context, PHC announced that it plans to use technological solutions to increase transparency and ensure traceability in its supply chain. The company also announced that it will launch training programs to support smallholder farmers in transitioning to sustainable practices.

PHC's commitment is considered a reflection of the growing awareness of sustainability and inclusivity in the global palm oil industry. Through collaboration with other players in the sector via platforms like CPOPC, the company aims to minimize the environmental and social impacts of palm oil while simultaneously contributing to economic development. PHC's initiatives have the potential to lead the sustainable growth of palm oil production, especially in Africa.
