The Polish parliament (Sejm) will reconsider the amendment proposal to the Legal Profession Act (Prawo o adwokaturze) on 15 July. In June, the Justice and Human Rights Committee decided to remove the provision from the draft that would have allowed lawyers to be exempt from court notifications and hearings for 20 days per year.
Under the new regulation, lawyers expect to be granted the same legal protection as public officials. In addition, the clarification of rules regarding the provision of legal aid is among the changes.
It is planned that a large part of the draft will enter into force within 14 days following its official promulgation.
