Horrendous accident in Tunceli: Tofaş wrecked, 1 person lost their life

A saddening traffic accident occurred in the evening hours at the Halvori Gözeleri location on the Ovacık highway in Tunceli, causing great sorrow in the region. According to obtained information and initial investigations, a Fiat Tofaş brand car with license plate 62 AC 553, whose driver has not yet been identified, collided head-on with a pickup truck with license plate 23 AFN 923. Due to the severity of the collision, the Fiat Tofaş vehicle was rendered unusable and completely wrecked. The impact of the accident caused the injured to become trapped inside the vehicle, and upon the first notification of the incident, health teams were dispatched to the scene. Following the accident, gendarmerie and fire crews, who quickly reached the area, made intensive efforts to rescue the injured trapped in the vehicle, carrying out a difficult operation.

Despite the efforts, a total of 6 people were affected by the accident. Among them, 52-year-old driver or passenger Ali İhsan Kandil lost his life at the hospital where he was taken, despite all medical interventions. Besides Kandil, the individuals inside the vehicle, İ.Ç.K. (13), A.R.K. (13), Ö.T.K. (18), K.M. (48), and A.Ç. (39), were injured to varying degrees. The severity of the event caused the fire crews to struggle during the rescue of the trapped victims and resulted in a lengthy rescue operation. After first aid was administered at the scene, the injured were dispatched by ambulance to Tunceli Devlet Hastanesi to begin necessary treatment. Gendarmerie teams have initiated a crime scene investigation regarding the accident, and the causes of the accident are being investigated.
