US provided 386 million dollars in humanitarian aid for Venezuela earthquakes

The United States provided significant financial support to humanitarian aid efforts for the region following the devastating earthquakes that deeply struck Venezuela two weeks ago. According to a statement from the US Department of State, over 386 million dollars in funding has been allocated to date to help the earthquake-affected population. This comprehensive financial assistance highlights the scale of the crisis in the country and the urgency of the international response. Emergency response teams and supply chains have been deployed to the region to meet the basic needs of tens of thousands of people affected by the disaster. The US administration is working in close collaboration with international organizations to support the people of Venezuela.

This massive allocated fund has been directed towards multiple areas to meet the urgent and vital needs of the people in the disaster zone. The provided aid packages prioritize emergency medical care, food supplies, drinking water, and the improvement of sanitary conditions. Additionally, setting up temporary shelter areas for those who lost their homes and providing logistical support are among the fundamental parts of this operation. These humanitarian activities are coordinated through reputable international organizations such as the Red Cross, UNICEF, and the World Food Programme, rather than directly from the field. The Donald Trump administration took concrete steps by providing a major contribution, not only financially but also logistically, to the humanitarian operations on the ground. In a statement made by the US government, it was noted that more than 400 metric tons of emergency supplies have been successfully delivered to the region to date. These supplies include items critical during disasters, such as shelter kits, hygiene packages, tents and tarpaulins, water buckets, and basic kitchen utensils. According to estimates by officials, approximately 70,000 earthquake-affected individuals have been reached so far thanks to these transportation and distribution operations. This figure is considered a clear indicator of how broadly and comprehensively the operation is being conducted.

To ensure that aid reaches the region uninterruptedly and regularly, the Washington administration accelerated operations by establishing an innovative logistical network. In this context, it was announced that a humanitarian air bridge was established between the US and Venezuela, and the operation is being conducted jointly with the Department of State. In this air bridge project, partners from different sectors, such as the non-profit organization Airlink and global e-commerce giant Amazon, are taking an active role. Thanks to this partnership, it is planned to send supplies regularly every week via relief trucks and planes from the city of Miami. This system, which does not incur any transportation costs for the relevant organizations, significantly reduces the cost of relief supplies, allowing assistance to reach more people.

This multidimensional intervention by the US not only sent supplies to the region but also provided serious technical support to search and rescue operations. Immediately after the earthquake, urban search and rescue teams were swiftly deployed to the region to rescue those trapped under the rubble in the cities. In this international rescue mission, over 2 thousand expert personnel affiliated with 60 different teams from 29 different countries served. Furthermore, approximately 200 specially trained search dogs were deployed to the field to support the search and rescue operations and find survivors. This level of international cooperation and massive logistical organization went down in history as a striking example of the solidarity shown by the world during the region's post-disaster recovery process.
