Bloody Attack on School by Croatian Youth in Almanya

On Wednesday, a terrifying armed and knife attack took place at the high school named Welfen Gymnasium in the town of Schongau, located in the Bavyera state of Almanya. While many people were injured in the incident, it was reported that at least two 13-year-old female students were severely injured and hospitalized. German police took a 16-year-old Croatian citizen male student into custody at the scene as a suspect in the attack. Following the attack, numerous police teams were dispatched to the area, and the school surroundings were closed off with a wide security perimeter.

In a statement made by the Bavyera Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann, it was confirmed that the suspect is a 16-year-old Croatian citizen who lived with his family until recently. Additionally, it was stated that the suspect had received psychiatric treatment in the past and currently bears the traces of this treatment. Authorities launched an investigation into whether the suspect had previously attended this school as a student. Herrmann added to his remarks that there are some indications the youth had made threats in the past, but these claims are currently being investigated in detail.

A police spokesperson stated that the general structure of the carried out act and the way the incident was committed bore characteristics similar to a mass violent act or a small-scale massacre. The weapons believed to have been used in the attack include cutting instruments and firearms. According to initial information relayed by the German news agency DPA, although the police could not recover a handgun at the scene, it was learned that bullets and ammunition were found. This situation raised the possibility that the suspect might have used the firearm before the incident or disposed of it at the last moment.

While great panic occurred in the area following the incident, authorities warned the public to remain calm and asked them to stay away from the area. Authorities confirmed that the two young female students who were attacked were transported to the hospital, but their lives were not in danger. Along with the suspect's detention, the police launched a large-scale search operation inside and around the school. Spokespersons announced that, in light of the evidence identified so far, the perpetrator acted alone and had no accomplices.

In assessments made by the police, rumors emerged based on some witness statements at the scene that there might be another attacker besides the suspect. However, the Interior Minister evaluated these claims, stating that there was no evidence of a second attacker and that this was merely a rumor. After security was established at the scene, the evacuation process of the school was carried out with great care. German authorities announced that a comprehensive investigation has been launched, covering both judicial and psychological dimensions, to shed light on this tragedy.
