Lost his life on his birthday in the accident caused by a drunk driver on the Antalya-Manavgat road

A tragic traffic accident in the Manavgat district of Antalya turned a birthday into a day of mourning. The incident occurred late at night on the D-400 highway near Hatipler Yenimahalle. A motorcycle ridden by Murat Güneri, traveling from Antalya towards Manavgat, violently rear-ended a car stopped in the emergency lane. The impact resulted in the death of the motorcycle rider at the scene, while the passenger, Dilek G., was seriously injured.

The driver of the car, identified as Ş. T., who was found to have been stopped in the emergency lane, was determined to have a blood alcohol level of 0.67 promil. The driver claimed he felt unwell due to alcohol consumption and pulled over to rest. However, investigations revealed that the driver also held a license insufficient for the type of vehicle he was operating. The fatal crash, captured second by second by security cameras, demonstrated once again how dangerous drunk driving can be, even during hours of light traffic.

Health teams dispatched to the scene provided first aid to the injured woman on the motorcycle and transported her to the hospital by ambulance. As part of the investigation, high administrative fines were imposed on the car driver and the registered owner who allowed him to drive for the crimes of drunk driving and driving with an insufficient license. The driver's license was also confiscated for 6 months. While the physical injuries and material damage were significant, the greatest loss was a human life. Security officials once again warned drivers to prevent drunk driving and carelessness, especially amid increasing traffic density during the summer months.

Investigations revealed that the late Murat Güneri's date of birth was July 3, and the accident occurred in the early hours of July 4, just as his birthday ended. This unfortunate twist of fate deeply shook his loved ones. Murat Güneri lost his life just after entering his new age, marking a double mourning period for his family and friends. A statement from the hospital regarding the health status of the injured female passenger indicated that her condition remains critical.
