Police operation in Bingöl: drugs and illegal tobacco seized

As a result of the coordinated work of the police teams within the Bingöl Provincial Police Department, a comprehensive operation was carried out across the city. In the operation, which was the target of security forces, simultaneous raids were conducted on many addresses as a result of intelligence studies on illegal substance trade and smuggling activities. In the searches, it was observed that the findings focused heavily on drug substance and tobacco products smuggling. It was stated that the operation was planned by evaluating the successful work and tips of local security forces, and the obtained findings were kept as evidence.

Within the scope of the operation, the amount and type of drugs seized by the police teams have been reported in detail, including marijuana and cannabis plants. During the investigations, 57.59 grams of marijuana and 9 cannabis plant roots used in drug production were found and seized by the police to be destroyed. In addition, the unlicensed weapons seized during the operation are considered an important finding regarding the suspects' tendency for violence. The police emphasized that collecting these poisonous substances before they reach the market is a great success in terms of protecting public health.

Another important leg of the searches consisted of smuggling activities regarding tobacco products. The police teams announced that a very large amount of illegal cigarettes and tobacco products were seized in the scans at the operation points. According to records, 2 thousand 658 packs of untaxed illegal cigarettes, 1 thousand 930 grams of hookah tobacco, and 82 kilograms of hookah charcoal were handed over to the security forces. In addition, thousands of ready-to-use rolling tubes with a high market value and 140 cigars were among the items seized within the scope of the operation.

Weapons found in the possession of the suspects during the operation, which were not subject to any license or document, were also found by the police and secured. In the operation in Bingöl, 1 pistol, 2 magazines belonging to this pistol, and 18 cartridges ready for firing were seized. It was stated that possessing unlicensed weapons is a frequently seen risk factor among the public along with smuggling and drug trade. Security officials initiated the necessary legal procedures to prevent these weapons from being used in probable clashes or unlawful acts.

The judicial process initiated regarding the detained suspect or suspects continues within the legal framework as the investigation deepens. After the suspects' statements are taken at the police units, the courts to which they will be referred will evaluate the requests for arrest or judicial control. The Bingöl Provincial Police Department announced that the inspections would continue uninterruptedly to prevent the commission of similar crimes across the province, not limited to this incident. Officials stated that combating smuggling and drugs is a priority task and that measures will be kept at the highest level for the comfort and security of the citizens.
