Augusto Salomon Becomes the New CEO of Brazil's Fuel Distributors Union Sindicom

The National Union of Fuel and Lubricant Distribution Companies (Sindicom) announced its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). According to the announcement made on 9 July 2026, Augusto Salomon was appointed to this critical role. Salomon's main responsibilities include implementing the strategic guidelines set by the board of directors and maintaining continuous dialogue with the three main branches of government (legislative, executive, and judicial). Conducting lobbying activities on issues concerning the legal framework of the sector is also among the new president's priorities. This appointment is seen as a significant part of the union management's vision to further strengthen its institutional representation power.

Recently, Sindicom entered a comprehensive restructuring process to respond more effectively to the regulatory and strategic challenges faced by the sector. The main purpose of this structural change was announced as increasing the institution's institutional weight and establishing a much broader communication network with various stakeholders in the market. As part of this transformation process, the union had previously decided in May to include David Zylbersztajn on the Board of Directors. Zylbersztajn's background and industry experience are believed to add significant vision to the union's new term strategies. These high-level appointments, completed with Salomon's arrival, aim to build a strong infrastructure for the institution's future vision.

Augusto Salomon, who will be taking over the role, stated that this new responsibility is an extremely significant and meaningful step for him. He emphasized that the fuel and lubricants sector is not only essential for daily life but also serves as a fundamental locomotive for Brazil's national economy. Salomon added that the current period coincides with a highly critical phase where profound discussions regarding the future evolution of the sector's regulatory environment are taking place. Therefore, he believes it is exactly the right time to take on the role of union president. He underlined that the institution must work closely with the legislative and executive bodies during this process to produce balanced solutions that will not disrupt the market.

The new executive warned that the upcoming period holds a very intense and fast-paced agenda for Sindicom. He stated that acting as a bridge to bring together all actors in the market is a crucial and critical mission for the union. Salomon's primary goals include guaranteeing competitive conditions, consolidating Brazil's national energy security, and creating long-term predictability for all market stakeholders. According to him, these three key elements are indispensable prerequisites for healthy economic growth and the sustainability of the sector. He expressed that, as a union, they will pursue a constructive and results-oriented diplomacy to achieve all these goals.

Augusto Salomon's background is based on deep-rooted experience spanning many years in the management of energy sector associations. As a result of this background, in 2021, he gained significant prestige by being selected as one of the '100 Most Influential People in Energy of the Decade' due to his impressive work in the sector. Spending a significant part of his career at the Brazilian Association of Pipeline Gas Distribution Companies (Abegás), Salomon took over the helm of this institution in 2013 and exhibited a successful management performance. He currently serves as the Director of the Energy Section under the Infrastructure Department of the São Paulo Federation of Industry (Fiesp). This rich institutional background provides him with the necessary vision to carry Sindicom into a new era within the Brazilian energy sector.
