Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand announced: A roguelite wave defense game is coming

Relic Entertainment has officially announced a new project for the popular World War II-themed real-time strategy series Company of Heroes, titled Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand. This new title diverges from the series' traditional RTS format, positioning it as a "wave defense" genre where players try to survive against enemy waves of increasing difficulty. Final Stand, like its predecessor, will offer players challenging struggles, featuring powerful boss encounters as well as dynamic battlefield events.

Although the game is built upon the series' beloved tactical foundations, it aims to enrich experiences and increase replayability through an included "roguelite" progression system. Thanks to this system, players will be able to discover progression paths within the game by trying different strategies, adapting to the situation, and developing new tactics in every attempt. While the title appeals to the series' loyal fans, it also aims to open its doors to new players looking for a faster and action-packed experience.

Company of Heroes: Final Stand offers players the chance to play four different factions, each with its own unique strategies, abilities, and progression paths. Players will battle on five different battlefields specifically designed for the wave defense game mechanic with these factions. The game supports both single-player and two-player co-op modes, appealing to a wide player base and providing suitable difficulty for players of all levels.

Technically, while Final Stand may be perceived as a mode within a full-fledged Company of Heroes game, it is being released as a standalone title by the developer studio. This means that players do not need to own the series' previous games or have any knowledge of them. However, a 20% discount will be applied to the $30 purchase price of Final Stand for players who have previously purchased Company of Heroes 3.

The release date of the title has been set for July 29, and the game is currently available to be wishlisted on Steam. Relic Entertainment's new project indicates that this is another important project on the studio's workbench alongside Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition, which is being prepared in honor of the series' 20th anniversary. Final Stand promises an experience that throws players directly into the middle of the war and emphasizes the importance of resistance against overwhelming superiority.
