10 percent fare hike proposal for public transport in Istanbul accepted by the council

The IMM Council accepted by majority vote the tariff regulation proposing a 10 percent increase for all public transport vehicles, as well as taxi and service fees in the city. With the decision, the price of the electronic full ticket used on buses, metros, metrobus, ferries, and minibuses increased to 46 lira 20 kuruş, and the student ticket price increased to 22 lira 55 kuruş.

Within the scope of the new tariff, detailed price increases were also determined according to the types of transportation. While the price of the monthly subscription Mavi Kart increased to 3,628 lira, the student monthly subscription fee was raised to 653 lira. New fees updated according to distances were also implemented for metrobus, Marmaray, and Şehir Hatları ferries.

Outside of public transport, the taximeter opening fee was increased to 71 lira 94 kuruş, and the taxi short-distance fee was raised to 230 lira. New pricing rates for minibus trips and school services were also included in the approved article. It was announced that the new transportation tariff will become effective starting from the date of July 20.
