Two suspects who carried out an armed attack on a car dealership in İzmir Torbalı have been arrested

A large-scale investigation was launched regarding the armed attack that took place in the Torbalı district of İzmir on 29 Haziran. Following the shooting of a car dealership, security forces were mobilized under the coordination of the Torbalı Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı. While security measures were tightened across the district, a multifaceted effort was carried out to identify and bring to justice the suspects who carried out the attack. The aftermath of the incident was quickly followed by the examination of security cameras in the area and a comprehensive field investigation. Security units planned intelligence-supported operations in addition to technical and physical tracking to capture the suspects.

Following the incident, units within the İzmir Emniyet Müdürlüğü launched a joint operation and intervened in the matter. Significant progress was made in the operations conducted through the collaboration of the Organize Suçlarla Mücadele Şube Müdürlüğü, İstihbarat Şube Müdürlüğü, Asayiş Şube Müdürlüğü, and Torbalı İlçe Emniyet Müdürlüğü teams. Examining the surrounding security cameras one by one, the teams deepened their fieldwork and tracked the suspects. In line with the obtained video recordings and intelligence data, the addresses where the suspects were hiding were identified. Once these addresses were determined, the button was pressed to physically execute the operation.

As a result of the technical and physical tracking conducted, the identities of the two suspects who carried out the armed attack became clear. The suspects were identified as 21-year-old V.K. and 17-year-old Ö.Y.A. Security forces conducted simultaneous operations at the addresses where the suspects were located, capturing both individuals in a short time. No security issues were experienced during the operation, and the suspects were taken into custody and brought to the police department. This operation yielded results in a short time thanks to the coordinated work of the security units.

The procedures and interrogation processes of the detained suspects at the police station were meticulously conducted. After the questioning process was completed, both suspects were handed over to the courthouse they were referred to. Following their interrogation at the courthouse, the duty court they were brought before decided to arrest them and send them to prison. The arrest decision was made in accordance with the severity of the incident and the collected evidence. With the suspects being sent to prison, the investigation process is expected to continue and deepen.

This incident once again demonstrated how seriously armed attacks on businesses in the region are taken by security forces. While the attack on the car dealership in the Torbalı district caused unease among the local people and tradesmen, the rapid intervention of the security forces reinforced the sense of security. The evidence obtained during the investigation proving that the suspects were the perpetrators of the incident allowed the legal process to proceed smoothly. Security officials announced that security measures in the region will continue to be increased to prevent similar incidents. The investigation launched regarding the incident may come to the agenda again if new developments occur.
