Rain Expected in Lahore Until July 13

The Pakistan Meteorological Department announced that rain is expected in the Lahore region as seasonal monsoon rains continue to have an impact. Authorities urged relevant institutions to remain vigilant and take precautions against the potential negative effects of heavy rainfall. The advancement of monsoon winds towards the northern parts of the country will keep weather conditions wet over the next few days. Citizens are warned to be cautious of potential waterlogging, while disruptions in urban transportation are also anticipated. The gradual replacement of hot weather by cool and rainy conditions is considered both a relief and a situation requiring caution for city residents.

According to current weather data, the temperature in Lahore is hovering around 29 degrees Celsius. The humidity level was measured at a considerably high 77 percent, while the wind speed was reported at 13 kilometers per hour. The daytime temperature is expected to fluctuate between 28 and 36 degrees Celsius. The combination of high humidity and rainfall is causing the sky to remain mostly cloudy. Light rains occurring during the night hours have eased the heat pressure in the city, providing some relief to the residents.

Meteorology experts expect the rainy weather to continue uninterrupted until July 13. The main reason for this situation is explained as the uninterrupted movement of moisture-laden monsoon currents towards the upper parts of the country. Additionally, a new weather system of western origin is expected to enter the northern regions today during the day. With the arrival of this system, the probability of rain and thunderstorms across the region will increase significantly. The overlapping of two different weather systems indicates that severe weather conditions in Lahore and its surroundings may reach their peak in the coming days.

In statements made by officials, attention is also drawn to the risks that heavy rainfall may bring. Particularly in low-lying areas, urban flooding may occur due to water accumulation and inadequate drainage systems. Waterlogging in areas with weak infrastructure holds the potential to negatively affect daily life and increases the risk of property damage. Relevant authorities are kept on alert to take necessary precautions in areas at risk of waterlogging. While the light rains that started during the night are expected to be replaced by occasional heavy downpours during the day, more rainfall is forecasted across the city within the next 24 hours.

On the other hand, from a broader perspective, below-normal rainfall is expected across Pakistan during the July of 2026. During this period, where the possibility of drought exists, the most pronounced negative rainfall anomalies are forecasted to occur in Northeast Punjab, along with the neighboring Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions. Similarly, the southeastern parts of Sindh province are also likely to receive rainfall below seasonal norms. Meanwhile, in northern regions such as Gilgit-Baltistan and Northeast Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rainfall is expected to be near normal or even slightly above. This overall picture reveals that there will be a significant regional disparity in rainfall distribution among different parts of the country.
