Legia Warszawa Secures Second Victory in Friendly Matches

Legia Warszawa, one of Poland's established clubs, defeated Slovakia's Trencin team 1-0 in their second friendly match played during the preparation period. The team's only goal came from a penalty taken by Mileta Rajovic. With this result, the capital side secured their second consecutive victory in the pre-season preparation process. After the match, head coach Marek Papszun expressed satisfaction with his team's level of play but pointed out their shortcomings. In particular, the team's inefficiency in scoring emerged as the coach's biggest source of concern.

While evaluating the clear goal-scoring opportunities missed during the match, Papszun noted that players such as Łukasz Zjawiński and Rafał Adamski struggled with accuracy. Referring to the moments when Adamski hit the post, the manager emphasized that at least a few goals should be scored in such matches. He stated that despite being highly effective in the previous match, the new transfer Zjawiński was unsuccessful in his finishing during this encounter. The coach added that the team still lacks consistency, mental maturity, and composure. He conveyed the message that this is a natural process for a newly assembled squad and will be overcome in time.

Young player Samuel Kovacik was also among those who missed three clear opportunities during the match. Although Kovacik's partnership with Jakub Żewłakow reflected positively on the game, the young footballer's inability to score stood out. Papszun stated that he understood the young player's frustration but emphasized that getting into goal-scoring positions is the most important step. The manager added that young players need to experience such situations and learn from their mistakes. Emphasizing that this process is an inevitable path for the development of a young footballer, Papszun showed that his confidence in Kovacik continues.

It was noted that Zoran Arsenic and Wojciech Urbański, who had injuries, did not play in the match, while Antonio Colak was not included in the squad due to his injury. It was announced that Colak suffered a fractured cheekbone following a collision with the opposing goalkeeper in the match against Hapoel Beer Sheva and might undergo surgery. It was stated that the conditions of Arsenic and Urbański are not serious and they could return to training within a few days. Papszun also criticized the situation by adding that since there are no cards in friendly matches, some players might go to extremes. It is not yet clear whether these injuries will disrupt the team's preparation process.

It was recalled that following the end of last season, players such as Juergen Elitim, Radovan Pankov, Jean-Pierre Nsame, and Jan Leszczyński departed from Legia Warszawa. Leszczyński's transfer to Borussia Mönchengladbach for 3 million euro signaled that player sales at the club could continue. Papszun stated that he must always be prepared for surprises regarding player transfers, acknowledging that irrefutable offers could arrive. The head coach expressed his preference for working with a stable squad but stated that he wants every player departure to be a well-thought-out decision. Finally, it was announced that Legia will play their next friendly match against Radomiak on 14 Temmuz, and will play their first league match away against Pogoń Szczecin on 24 Temmuz.
