New Permanent Residences for 4 Bin 359 Earthquake Victims Are Being Delivered in Malatya

Following the devastating earthquakes that occurred in Malatya, another significant milestone has been reached in the permanent housing construction efforts ongoing in the city. Within the scope of the reconstruction process carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and local governments, thousands of citizens are being reunited with their new homes. In this context, the keys to a total of 4 bin 359 housing units are being delivered to rightful owners in accordance with the schedule and program determined across the city. This step, aimed at addressing the grievances of the earthquake-affected citizens, also contributes to accelerating the normalization process in the region. Authorities state that the deliveries are conducted within a specific plan, utilizing a transparent lottery and sequencing system.

Within the scope of the new delivery program, the housing units are primarily being distributed through completed projects in the Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts. The Akoğuz 1. and 2. Etap projects, located in Çamurlu Mahallesi of the Battalgazi district, stand out among the areas where the highest volume of deliveries are taking place during this process. In these phases, a total of 1740 housing units, 29 shops, and 1 mosque have been made ready to serve the rightful owners. Infrastructure works and social amenity areas in the region have also been completed simultaneously with the housing units. Thanks to this, the goal is not only for citizens to have a shelter, but also to attain a safe and modern living space.

Comprehensive housing deliveries are regularly continuing in the Yeşilyurt district as well, with projects in various neighborhoods being completed. In Yakınca Mahallesi 51. Bölge, the keys to 633 housing units and 56 shops, and in Bostanbaşı Mahallesi 62. Bölge, the keys to 127 housing units and 6 shops are being handed over to their owners. Additionally, the construction of 770 housing units in Çarmuzu Mahallesi 18. Bölge 1. Etap has been completed and presented for citizens' use. In 30. Bölge 2. Etap, which covers the Kaynarca and İskender neighborhoods, 298 new housing units have also been opened for the settlement of earthquake-affected families. These figures reveal how comprehensively and rapidly the restructuring efforts carried out across Malatya are being executed.

Along with this intensive construction and delivery process, there has been a substantial increase in the number of independent sections (housing units) granted to rightful owners in Malatya post-earthquake. With just this final phase program, a total of 4 bin 359 housing units, 115 commercial shops, and 1 mosque will have been provided to the region as a significant service. In Battalgazi Bahçebaşı Mahallesi 12. Etap, the keys to 791 housing units will reach their owners, thereby significantly increasing the rate of permanent settlement in the city. The delivery of commercial areas alongside the housing units is of great importance for the local population to stand on their own feet economically and for business life to be revitalized. Authorities state that these figures will increase over time and that the city will be completely revitalized.

Malatya Governor Seddar Yavuz boosted public morale by making assessments regarding the massive reconstruction efforts carried out in the city. Yavuz emphasized that these processes are being meticulously conducted under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the ministerial coordination of the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum. Stating that the delivery of permanent housing is seen as one of the most crucial steps in healing the wounds of the earthquake disaster, Governor Yavuz expressed that their goal is to build a stronger and safer Malatya. With thousands of families moving into their permanent homes, social and economic life in the city is expected to regain its former dynamics. It is planned that similar deliveries will continue to increase in the upcoming period, creating a permanent ray of hope for the earthquake victims.
