In Polonya, the air temperature reached its highest level of all time as the heatwave gripping Avrupa moved eastwards. On Sunday, 40,5°C was measured in the town of Słubice and 40,3°C in the city of Toruń. These values surpassed the previous record of 40,2°C. Agnieszka Prasek, the spokesperson for the Polish State Meteorological Institute IMGW-PIB, confirmed these figures to Polsat News.

On Saturday, the June record was broken in Słubice on the border with Almanya with 38,9°C. This surpassed the previous June record of 38,3°C recorded in 2019 in the village of Ceber in Aşağı Silezya. Now, the all-time record of 40,2°C measured in Prószków in 1921 on the territory of today's Polonya (a country whose borders have changed frequently throughout history) has also been broken. Although 40,5°C was measured in Ścinawa in 1943, this value is not officially recognized because it could not be documented due to the war.

On Sunday, temperatures in much of Polonya hovered above 35°C, and the hot weather is expected to continue on Monday. Meteorology officials stated that extremely high temperatures would persist in most of Polonya on Monday, but the weather would start to cool down starting from Tuesday. Additionally, a warning was issued that severe storms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds could be seen in some parts of the country between Sunday and Wednesday.

A large part of Avrupa struggled with scorching heat this week; many countries such as Fransa, Almanya, İsviçre, Danimarka and Çek Cumhuriyeti broke their all-time records. John Kennedy from the Dünya Meteoroloji Örgütü said, "Heatwaves like this are what we expect to see in a changing climate." He stated that Avrupa is the fastest-warming continent and that average temperatures have increased by two degrees in the last 50 years.

Birleşmiş Milletler Genel Sekreteri António Guterres warned in his speech at the Londra İklim Haftası, "Climate disasters are becoming more frequent and more devastating." Various meteorological organizations, scientists, and experts are warning that the conditions seen in Avrupa this week will become increasingly common due to climate change. This record temperature recorded in Polonya is considered an indicator of the impacts of climate change.
