Attempted Double Murder Arrest by Portuguese Police

The Judicial Police (PJ), operating in the Vila Real region of Portekiz, detained a 24-year-old suspect on charges of two separate counts of attempted murder. The incident occurred in the early hours of 5 Temmuz and authorities quickly launched an investigation. The suspect is believed to have committed acts of violence during a dispute that broke out between individuals from two different groups. Both victims were reported to have sustained severe injuries at the scene and are in critical condition. It was revealed that the background of the incident involves a pre-existing dispute between two groups residing in different cities. Initial findings indicate that the argument started over an issue that is not yet fully clarified and quickly escalated. One group was identified as living in the Macedo de Cavaleiros region, and the other in the Mirandela region. At the peak of the physical altercation, the 24-year-old suspect allegedly drew a knife and attacked two young men. It was reported that during the attack, the suspect struck the victims, aged 21 and 22, numerous times in their back areas, specifically targeting their lower backs. It is emphasized that this type of attack is extremely dangerous as it carries the potential to cause severe damage to the victims' vital organs. The suspect, who fled the scene, was identified and apprehended shortly after as a result of the police's meticulous work. It was learned that both victims passed a life-threatening stage following the attack, but their conditions were stabilized thanks to rapid intervention. The immediate arrival of health teams at the scene and the rapid transfer to the medical emergency room prevented a potential tragedy. Doctors stated that the depth of the wounds and the areas struck are critical, but the young men's strong physical resistance also contributed positively to the healing process. Both victims are kept under close monitoring in intensive care units and are not expected to be discharged for a while. It is expressed that a long healing process is anticipated for the treatment of the physical and psychological traumas caused by such violent incidents.

After his legal rights were read to him, the detained suspect was sent to the criminal judgeship to be brought before the court. During his initial interrogation, following the taking of the suspect's statement, the judge will decide on continued pre-trial detention or the application of judicial control measures.
