Lucie was holding her dog Dark on a short leash when she noticed a vehicle rapidly approaching from behind. The young woman stepped into the middle of the road and made a friendly hand signal for the driver to slow down, noting that the driver looked at her but did not slow down at all. The driver bypassed the woman, struck the dog directly, and threw it into the roadside ditch. The dog's owner, Alexandre, ran after the vehicle, hitting the window and yelling for it to stop, but the driver drove away without stopping.
