Emphasis on Uninterrupted Service in Silivri: 'We Are Aware of the Trust' Message from Deputy Mayor Ekici

Silivri Deputy Mayor Yalçın Ekici made important statements at the Temmuz council meeting. Emphasizing that the detained and temporarily suspended Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu is the true owner of the office, Ekici stated that municipal services will continue without interruption. He noted that the ongoing process is not just an issue for a single political party, but directly a matter of local democracy and the will of the ballot box. Ekici stated that they are at the forefront of their duties and are fully aware of the responsibility entrusted to them. He noted that as a municipality, they will continue to be on the field with all their units and will not hesitate even for a moment in serving the public.

Drawing attention to the supremacy of law, Ekici expressed their desire for judicial processes to be conducted independently and impartially. Emphasizing that the existence of an investigation is not enough to declare anyone guilty in advance, he reminded that the allegations are not a court verdict. He stated that universal legal principles such as the presumption of innocence, the right to defense, and the right to a fair trial must be fully adhered to. Stating that perceptions cannot replace facts, Ekici said they expect no compromise on the principles of the rule of law throughout this entire process. They also added to their words their belief that justice will sooner or later prevail and the truth will come to light.

Stating that despite Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu's physical absence among them, his love for Silivri and his will to serve guide them, Ekici also used an emotional tone. Saying that Balcıoğlu's heart still beats for Silivri and that he carries hope for all segments of the city, Ekici emphasized that they will sustain the understanding of social municipality he initiated. They guaranteed that the projects started for children, youth, women, the elderly, farmers, and tradesmen will continue uninterrupted. They stated that their main duty is to grow the hope Balcıoğlu carries and to protect the trust in the best way possible. They also added that the municipality will not compromise on its agricultural policies that protect producers and its services for individuals with special needs.

Giving a clear response to the criticisms that municipal services would slow down or the institution would close in on itself, Ekici stated that the Silivri Municipality stands tall and continues to work with determination. Emphasizing institutional resilience, he stated that every cadre, from deputy mayors to the diligent field personnel, is on duty. He expressed that the municipality is the home of the people, which does not open or close its doors to anyone based on their political identity. They promised to continue standing at an equal distance to all Silivri residents, whether they are close to the ruling party or the opposition. They added that they know how to protect democracy, law, and the will of the ballot box, and that they will act with the dignity and maturity worthy of Silivri during this process.

Emphasizing that they will also sustain the daily life and investments of the district without disruption, alongside their understanding of social municipality, Ekici stated that they will closely follow the legal process at every stage. They expressed their belief that Bora Balcıoğlu will return to them with his head held high and honor intact, and that they will continue their struggle until that day. Additionally, he conveyed his get-well wishes to the citizens affected by the fires that occurred in different parts of the district last week. Calling on all Silivri residents to be careful and sensitive against the increased risk of fire during the summer months, Ekici stated that municipal teams are also on high alert regarding this matter. Emphasizing that the strongest response is service, they added that they will continue to stand by the trust with loyalty and will not let the will of the Silivri public fall to the ground.
