As a result of a successful intelligence operation conducted by the Tokat Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, a network engaged in the trade of illegal tobacco products was dismantled. Following physical and technical surveillance, the identities of the suspects and the addresses where they operated were identified. Within the scope of the investigation conducted under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the necessary legal permissions were obtained for the operation. In this context, simultaneous raids were carried out on the suspects' homes and their workplaces. During this comprehensive operation, a large amount of illegal tobacco products were seized, and a total of 4 suspects were taken into custody.

During the searches conducted by the gendarmerie teams, thousands of illegal products, thought to have a very high market value, were brought to light. Primarily, 3 bin 260 pre-filled cigarette tubes were seized during the searches. Additionally, exactly 113 bin unlabeled and empty cigarette tubes, believed to have been stored for use in illegal production, were seized. Also, 240 kilograms of loose cut tobacco, understood to have been prepared for sale, were among the materials seized in the operation. By preventing these massive quantities of products from being introduced to the market, both the government's tax losses were prevented and public health was protected.

During the searches conducted by the teams during the operation, it was seen that there were not only ready-made cigarettes and loose tobacco. 1 cigarette filling machine, indicating that illegal production was carried out on an industrial scale, was also confiscated from the suspects' workplace. In addition, over 10 bin labeled empty cigarette tubes, proving that the processes were carried out more professionally, were recorded as evidence. Authorities also seized 219 packs of labeled cut tobacco and 100 unlabeled cigars, believed to have been obtained illegally. This wide range of products raised the possibility that the suspects were catering not only to a local but a broader network.

Following the operation, the 4 suspects taken into custody were taken to the Tokat Provincial Gendarmerie Command to be interrogated. The suspects, who were subjected to long hours of statement procedures in high-security rooms at the gendarmerie, were investigated to determine whether they accepted the charges or had accomplices. In their statements, they were interrogated in detail about whether they engaged in illegal tobacco trade and where they obtained these products. After the completion of their health checks, their procedures were finalized. Following the completion of the interrogation processes, these 4 suspects were referred to the judicial authorities to be tried for the charges against them.

It was reported that the investigation has not been closed and continues to uncover the deeper layers of the incident (a potentially larger-scale organization). The gendarmerie teams continue to examine digital materials and phone records in order to determine the source of these seized products. Whether new arrests will be made within the scope of the investigation file will be shaped by the new evidence to be obtained. Authorities emphasized that the fight against smuggling will continue with determination in the region and that similar operations will be carried out in the future. It was reminded that the local public should also inform the authorities in suspicious situations in order to prevent such illegal activities.
