7 People Stranded in Van Gölü Rescued by Police Teams

A group that set out to sea in Tatvan district of Bitlis became stranded in the middle of Van Gölü due to an unexpected situation. 4 adults and 3 children, who set off on a zodiac boat from Kıyıdüzü village near Tatvan, had to ask for help due to a technical malfunction or problems caused by weather conditions. The teams, who quickly arrived at the scene, successfully completed the rescue operation by taking the stranded citizens onto their boats safely. As a result of this incident, luckily no injuries or loss of life occurred, and it was learned that the health conditions of the rescued people were good.

Immediately after the incident was noticed, police teams affiliated with the Tatvan Deniz Limanı Şube Müdürlüğü were dispatched to the region upon a help call received via radio. Security forces, who reached the scene in a short time, reached the citizens, who are estimated to have drifted due to the boat's engine failure or losing their direction. Police teams determined that the health conditions of the 7 stranded people were good and took them into their security boats. Although the difficulty of geographical conditions was taken into account during the rescue operation, no negativity was experienced as a result of professional intervention.

The rescued 4 adults and 3 children were brought safely to the pier located in the Tatvan Polis Kampı campus by police boats. The citizens, who underwent a health check here, were handed over without being referred to the hospital as their condition was good. It was examined whether psychological support was needed for the rescued people, who were awaited with great concern by their families, to overcome the shock they experienced. At the moment the operation was completed, it was observed that the families reunited with their children and officials stated that they intervened in the situation.

The shortness of the time elapsed since the notification was received played a critical role in preventing a possible disaster. The police teams' timely and organized mobilization prevented a greater tragedy from occurring in Van Gölü, where cold and wind could be effective. It was vital that the stranded people requested help before their condition worsened. It was shared that there was a risk of drifting when the teams reached the region, but the boat was pulled to a safe zone with intervention.

Following this incident, officials issued important warnings to citizens wishing to set out on Van Gölü. In the statement made, it was stated that weather and water conditions that can change suddenly in the lake always pose a risk, and therefore the weather should definitely be checked before setting out. In addition, citizens were informed about taking necessary safety measures such as life jackets for life safety and that boats should be fully equipped.
