Drug operation by the gendarmerie in the Alaplı district of Zonguldak

A significant amount of illegal drugs was seized in a successful drug operation conducted by security forces in the Alaplı district of Zonguldak. Teams from the Alaplı District Gendarmerie Command are conducting a determined struggle against drug trafficking and use in the region. Within the scope of the meticulously conducted investigation by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a suspect was found to be illegally cultivating cannabis. Acting upon this, the gendarmerie teams carried out a comprehensive search at the suspect's residence. As a result of the operation, varying amounts of drugs and materials were confiscated.

The operation was planned and implemented to prevent drug trafficking, which threatens public health and peace. The gendarmerie teams, acting in coordination with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducting the investigation, set a date for the operation after lengthy surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts. A detailed examination was carried out during the search of the suspect E.Y.'s house, located in a village within the district. During the search, drugs hidden in the garden and inside the house were uncovered. Such operations are of great importance for dismantling drug networks in the region and protecting youth from these harmful substances.

Exactly 7 cannabis plants were seized during the judicial search conducted by the teams at the suspect's house. In addition, 41 grams of cannabis resin, ready for use or sale, was found. Furthermore, 4 grams of cannabis seeds were recorded as evidence by the police and the prosecutor's office against the possibility of future cultivation. The seized materials were sent to relevant institutions and laboratories for examination. These findings suggest that the suspect aimed not only for personal use but also for cultivation and distribution.

Following the operation, judicial and administrative processes regarding E.Y., who was taken into custody, were immediately initiated. The suspect was subjected to health checks and taken to the gendarmerie station to be interrogated. It remains a matter of curiosity whether the suspect, whose statement was taken during the interrogation by security and gendarmerie units, will expose other suspects or dealers. The prosecutor's office is preparing the file to be sent to the judicial authorities to be forwarded, in line with the collected evidence and the suspect's statements. Once the court process begins, it will be decided whether the suspect will be arrested or released under judicial control conditions.

Such operations, conducted as part of the fight against drugs across Türkiye, reveal the determination and resolve of law enforcement. Through these frequent operations in various parts of the country, the lives of thousands of young people are saved, and the flow of drugs pushed onto the streets is disrupted. Authorities emphasize that drug dealers and manufacturers must be subjected to the heaviest penalties within the framework of the rule of law.
