EU agrees on a record 250-person sanctions list targeting Russia

The European Union Foreign Affairs Council has agreed to add 250 individuals to the sanctions list in response to Russia's attacks on the civilian population in Ukraine. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas announced that this is the most comprehensive sanctions list adopted to date.

Kallas stated that work is also underway on the 21st sanctions package, but no agreement has been reached yet. The High Representative noted that there are still some open questions regarding this package, but emphasized that they are making efforts to reach an agreement.

It was learned that the 250-person list includes various names involved in Russia's attacks in different ways. Kallas expressed hope that the list will be finalized and approved within the day.
