The Counter Intelligence unit located in the Amritsar city of India's Pencap state successfully concluded the activities of two separate networks by conducting a major operation against drug trafficking syndicates. While a total of three suspects were detained in two simultaneous operations organized by the authorities, a remarkable 13 kilograms of heroin was seized. This incident was considered a concrete indicator of the resolve of the security forces and their sensitive intelligence-gathering capabilities against the increasing drug trade in the region in recent years. The Pencap police stated that the operation was an extremely critical step in dismantling the large-scale drug supply chain in the region. This major successful operation was announced to the public through a press statement made by the Director General of Police (DGP) of Pencap, Gaurav Yadav, and an official bulletin shared on social media.

The identities and residential information of the detained suspects were revealed in a manner that laid bare the scale of the issue and how widespread the network was. The first arrested suspect was identified as Akashdeep Singh, a resident of the Khemkaran town in the Tarn Taran region, who was hiding in the Kherabad area of Amritsar during the operation. As for the other two suspects; they were identified as Mangal Singh and Baljit Singh, who were found to be living in the Bhodiwala village of the Moga district. Authorities believe that these suspects were part of an active logistics network that delivered drug shipments collected from different regions to various locations across the Pencap state. Along with the apprehension of these suspects, law enforcement decisively exercised their authority to seize not only the narcotics but also the vehicles used in the commission of the crime.

Officials providing detailed information regarding the incident stated that the operation consisted of two phases and that they acted on highly sensitive intelligence in both cases. In the first operation, a massive raid was conducted on Akashdeep Singh's house in Kherabad, where 8 kilograms of heroin with a very high market value was recovered. The fact that the suspect procured and hid such a quantity of drugs alone suggested that he was a critical local link in a larger criminal organization. The fact that the suspect was apprehended without being able to offer any resistance during this raid proved the success of the law enforcement's operational planning and how well they utilized the element of surprise. In the second operation, police teams stopped two suspects, whose intelligence regarding drug shipments had been received, at a checkpoint set up on the Amritsar-Jhaban Kara Road and searched the vehicle.

Following a detailed search of the Hyundai vehicle stopped at the checkpoint, from which Mangal Singh and Baljit Singh exited, 5 kilograms of heroin was found in the trunk compartment. It was determined that the suspects were using this vehicle in an effort to distribute drugs collected from various points to hitmen and sub-dealers across Pencap. The massive total of 13 kilograms of heroin seized as a result of these operations exposed the workings of this criminal network, which has been poisoning masses and creating a serious public health problem for years. During the initial interrogations, evidence was obtained suggesting that the arrested individuals could be critical suppliers within Pencap for the Indian subcontinent drug routes coming from beyond international borders. In addition to the vehicle involved in the crime, a large-scale investigation was launched using digital evidence and phone records to identify the identities of other individuals thought to be involved.

Following this successful operation, official legal procedures for both cases were immediately initiated at the Amritsar Devlet Özel Hücre (SSOC) police station. Two separate First Information Report (FIR) records, containing heavy charges under Articles 21, 25, and 29 of the Hint Uyuşturucu ve Psikotropik Maddeler Yasası (NDPS), were filed against the suspects. Pencap Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav once again emphasized that the government and law enforcement agencies follow an uncompromising zero-tolerance policy against drug cartels in the state. In line with these policies, a clear message was conveyed stating that no mercy will be shown to anyone in order to protect the youth and society from the scourge of drugs, and that criminals will be punished with the maximum limits of the law. Finally, the Pencap police made a strong public call urging the local people to immediately report to the security forces if they have any information regarding drug dealers.
