208 Liters of Bootleg Liquor Seized in Antalya's Alanya and Manavgat Districts

Teams from the Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Command took a concrete step against illicit economic activities that threaten public health and provide unfair gains in the tourist centers of Alanya and Manavgat. Following intelligence work conducted across the region by gendarmerie teams, a detailed operation was planned and successfully implemented to prevent the production of bootleg alcohol and the trade of counterfeit products. As part of this operation, searches were carried out targeting specific businesses and storage facilities where inspections were intensified, and authorized bodies meticulously conducted the necessary examinations within the legal framework.

During the controls, administrative and judicial proceedings were initiated against two separate businesses found to be failing to fulfill legal obligations and engaging in unlicensed production activities. In the searches carried out at the aforementioned businesses, a quantity of counterfeit and bootleg alcohol significantly above the market value was seized. As a result of the security forces' operation, a total of 208 liters of unlicensed alcohol posing health risks were captured. These products were considered to pose a danger at a level that would endanger citizens' lives because they were untaxed and not produced under hygienic conditions.

It was emphasized that the aim of the operation was not only to apply penal sanctions but also to protect public health and support legitimate trade. It was stated that the production of bootleg alcohol causes tax losses for the state and also damages the image, especially in tourist regions. Gendarmerie officials announced that no tolerance would be shown for such activities and that similar inspections would continue without interruption. It was noted that sensitivity regarding food safety and consumer health would increase in regions like Alanya and Manavgat, which are densely populated by domestic and foreign tourists.

The seized products were sent to relevant laboratories for scientific examination, and legal proceedings for the transfer of ownership to the public domain were initiated based on the analysis results. Judicial proceedings were initiated against the suspects detained or investigated in connection with the incident under the Turkish Penal Code and legislation on the Prevention of Smuggling and Customs Tariff Status. It was recorded that such operations against smuggling crimes are also of strategic importance in terms of drying up the financial resources of organized networks.

Consequently, security forces across Antalya keep the inspection mechanism constantly active to prevent citizens from losing their health through unconscious consumption. Citizens were warned to absolutely avoid consuming alcoholic beverages that are untaxed and of uncertain origin. It was conveyed that such operations reinforce the atmosphere of trust and stability in the region, and that the necessary actions are being done to hold criminals accountable as a matter of the rule of law. It was pledged that all necessary measures would continue to be taken for the safety of the local population and guests.
