Worker shuttle collides with car in Bartın: There are injured

A traffic accident that occurred in the morning at Çayırlar Junction in Çaydüzü Mahallesi, located in the central district of Bartın, caused panic. A service minibüs carrying factory workers and travelling towards Bartın centre from the Karabük direction collided with a car attempting to exit the junction onto the main road. Losing control due to the impact of the first violent collision, the service minibüs also made contact with another car coming from the opposite direction, causing a chain-reaction accident. Thrown sideways by the force of the collision, the minibüs remained suspended on the roadside pavement, getting caught on the barriers and preventing a greater fall. The other car involved in the accident rolled over with a loud crash, toppling into a garden located by the side of the road. The debris scattered around during the accident demonstrated the severity of the event.

Upon the immediate notification by nearby citizens who witnessed the accident, a large number of security and health teams were dispatched to the scene. Police teams arriving at the scene shortly took control of traffic for security purposes, while health teams started an intensive effort to assess the condition of the injured in the first instance. Additionally, Bartın Belediyesi İtfaiye Müdürlüğü (Fire Department) teams were on standby against risks such as entrapment or fire in the vehicles following the accident, taking precautions against possible dangers. In the inspections at the accident site, it was observed that the incident did not turn into a greater catastrophe by chance, but the material damage was quite heavy. As a result of the intense work of the teams, the injured were extracted from the vehicles and handed over to the health teams, and ambulances were mobilized.

The 10 factory workers on the worker shuttle, one of the vehicles involved in the accident, managed to escape the accident without injury by a great stroke of luck. The workers, who were trapped in the service minibüs but did not suffer a physical blow, survived the event with minor injuries or unscathed, though they were shaken. Furthermore, the driver of the first car that collided with the service minibüs did not face a life-threatening danger despite the severity of the accident, and it was determined that his health was good during the initial check at the scene. This situation once again demonstrated how valuable the luck of the drivers and passengers on the other side of the accident was. The moments of fear experienced by the factory workers while going to work after breakfast also caused psychological trauma.

However, the heaviest scene of the accident was experienced in the second car, which rolled over into the garden. The driver S.Ç. and the passengers E.S. and B.B. inside this vehicle were injured in various parts during the collision and overturning. After the first and emergency intervention at the scene by 112 Acil Sağlık (Emergency Health) teams, the injured were dispatched by ambulances to Bartın Devlet Hastanesi for treatment. It was learned that the general health condition of the injured taken to the hospital was good and there was no life-threatening risk, but it was stated that a detailed examination would be made following the tests. While the injured were being taken to the hospital under the shock of the accident, their relatives who accompanied them also experienced great concern.

Police teams affiliated with Bartın Emniyet Müdürlüğü, who launched an investigation regarding the accident, made a detailed examination at the scene to determine the factors causing the accident. All details such as the identity determinations of the vehicles and the alcohol reports of the drivers were recorded for examination. Whether there was a navigational error at the junction, compliance with speed rules, and the technical conditions of the vehicles are being examined comprehensively and will be reported. While this traffic accident once again reminds drivers to be more careful at junction entrances and main roads, requests for increased security measures in the area may also come to the agenda.
