Roads Closed to Traffic in Bucaramanga Due to Road Renewal Works

Since the beginning of this week, large-scale road renewal works have started in the busiest corridors of Bucaramanga, one of the important cities of Colombia. It was reported that permanent and temporary road closure decisions were made within the scope of these comprehensive projects carried out by the municipality. Authorities announced that asphalt renewal operations will start in the early hours of the morning and invited drivers to be careful. These works, which will be implemented in the city center, aim to reconstruct deteriorated roads and create a safer transportation infrastructure. Citizens were warned to make their travel plans in advance and determine alternative routes against possible traffic congestion.

The interventions carried out simultaneously in different parts of the city were planned in detail by senior municipality officials. The work schedule announced by City Manager Deimer Mauricio Mosquera is considered part of a strategic plan aimed at improving the general road network of the urban area. In this context, asphalt paving operations will begin on the route between 33. Bulvar and 94A and 97. Sokak in the La Pedregosa area starting at 05:00 in the morning. Similarly, starting at 06:30 in the morning, ground preparation and old asphalt removal will be carried out at the intersection of 45. Sokak and 22. Bulvar. All these operations aim to contribute to solving the infrastructure problems that have been ongoing in urban transportation for years.

Intense activity is also observed in different neighborhoods in the works carried out by municipal teams. In the Provenza area, the old asphalt layer will be meticulously removed using the micro-milling method on the section of 25. Bulvar between 100. and 103. streets. In addition, a serious road renewal process will be operated at the intersection of 35. Bulvar and 34. and 52. Streets. Pothole repair teams are also working in various parts of the Merkez Planı area, considered the heart of the city, and Cabecera, allowing drivers to have a more comfortable journey. These comprehensive and simultaneous works aim to significantly raise the standards of roads across the city.

These comprehensive asphalt renewal and maintenance activities are being implemented with the support of a massive budget of billions of pesos. According to a statement made by the municipal administration, it was stated that approximately 18 billion Colombian pesos were allocated for the repair of roads that have hosted heavy vehicle traffic for years and have worn out. Thanks to this massive investment, many main arteries of the city will be completely renewed, offering a long-term solution. In the current phase of the project, a total area of 31,000 square meters is planned to be re-asphalted and its surface corrected. Completely removing the old and damaged asphalt layer and replacing it with a new and durable surface coating will significantly increase transportation safety.

While road construction and renewal works continue, an increase in traffic congestion across the city and a negative impact on drivers' daily lives are foreseeably inevitable. Lane narrowing and partial road closures applied during critical hours when morning and evening traffic is heaviest may cause drivers to lose time. For this reason, traffic authorities recommend that citizens prefer public transportation vehicles as much as possible or use different routes. Strict compliance with traffic signs and warning signs in areas close to work zones is of great importance. In addition, compliance with the instructions of traffic directing personnel in the field is emphasized as an extremely critical requirement both to ensure occupational safety and to maintain traffic flow without disruption.
