Crucial Expert Examination in the Trial of the Accident Causing the Death of 12-Year-Old Siyana in Bulgaria

The 11th hearing of the trial regarding the tragic traffic accident that occurred on 31 March 2025 near the village of Teliş in Pleven, Bulgaria, which resulted in the loss of 12-year-old Siyana Popova's life, is being held. A comprehensive forensic medicine and motor vehicle expert examination, which will determine the course of the trial, is expected to be prepared.

While Siyana lost her life in the said accident, the driver, who was her grandfather and was in the vehicle, was also injured. It was revealed that the defendant, who is being tried under arrest, had numerous violations under the Road Traffic Law and had his driver's license confiscated multiple times before. Three separate requests for the defendant's arrest status to be converted to a lighter precautionary measure were rejected by the court.

To date, a total of 10 hearings have been held, during which the testimonies of witnesses and experts were heard. According to unofficial information, it is likely that this hearing will also be postponed due to the experts requesting additional time for the report.
