DIW Economist Warns: Technological Flexibility is Harming the Industry

The competitive pressure that Çin is exerting on European industry across a broad spectrum ranging from electric vehicles to battery technologies and artificial intelligence heralds a new era for the entire continent, particularly for Almanya. Breaking the price barrier created by Çin's raw material supply chains and state-backed subsidies does not seem possible solely through customs policies. For this reason, it has become imperative for European countries to develop closer cooperation and a common industrial policy among themselves. It is stated that balanced policies that promote innovation and support local production must be established without engaging in trade wars.

These economic warnings also lead to the questioning of Almanya's 'Endüstri 4.0' vision. It is clearly evident that faster decision-making mechanisms and less bureaucracy are needed in order not to fall behind Çin with state-backed mega infrastructure projects.
