Teams from the Diyarbakır Provincial Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch Office carried out intensive work throughout June to ensure traffic safety across the province and prevent drivers disturbing the peace. In this context, comprehensive inspections were conducted on main arteries such as Mezopotamya Boulevard and Necmettin Erbakan Boulevard, particularly within the Kayapınar district borders. While elements threatening the safety of citizens were addressed during the checks, administrative actions against drivers violating traffic rules did not slow down.
According to the share made by security officials on their social media accounts, a total of 5 thousand 500 vehicles and drivers were inspected in detail during the operations. During these inspections, penal proceedings were meticulously applied to drivers who exceeded the speed limit, committed parking violations, and drove dangerously. The studies, not limited to a specific region, continued at different points of the city with the aim of ensuring traffic order.
Looking at the distribution of violations detected as a result of the inspections, the most fines were issued for exceeding the speed limit. Official data on the subject shows that an administrative fine was applied to 1 thousand 37 vehicle drivers for speed violations, while a sanction was applied to 99 vehicles and drivers for violating parking rules. These figures once again revealed that drivers need to be more careful regarding compliance with speed and parking order in urban transportation.
More serious violations endangering traffic also received their share from the inspections. During the controls, 6 vehicles were fined for racing in a way that affected traffic to a dangerous degree, and 2 vehicles were fined for weaving through traffic. Strict measures were taken against such aggressive driving behaviors, and 11 vehicles were banned from traffic for reasons such as serious violations and driving without a license. The applied ban process is of great importance to prevent these vehicles from re-entering traffic.
The Diyarbakır Police Department emphasized that such inspections are not carried out just to write fines, but as a continuous measure to protect the life and property safety of citizens. It was stated that similar inspections would continue at different points of the city in the coming period and the fight against drivers who do not comply with traffic rules would continue uninterrupted. While the work of security units continues to ensure traffic safety, drivers are also called upon to comply with traffic signs and rules and to share within the framework of love and respect.
