Agricultural and forest fire in Diyarbakır's Lice district brought under control

A fire that broke out for an unknown reason in the Lice district of Diyarbakır caused great panic by threatening both agricultural lands and forested areas. The flames, which started in a large area located within the borders of Ziyaret Mahallesi in the Lice district, posed a danger of spreading to the surroundings in a short time. Upon the swift reporting of the situation by the citizens in the area, authorized institutions immediately declared a mobilization. Numerous teams were directed to the scene to prevent the fire from jumping to larger areas. A great effort was made day and night to prevent loss of life and property in the region.

Immediately after the incident was reported, numerous rescue and intervention teams were dispatched to the area. After an uninterrupted and exhausting effort lasting approximately five hours, the flames were successfully extinguished. From the very moment the fire started, the determined and brave attitude of the teams stood out as the biggest factor in limiting the scale of the disaster. Although the effect of the flames was completely eliminated, operations in the area continued for a while longer for the temperature to drop completely and for permanent control. At the end of this process, the teams announced that the area had been made safe and that there was no remaining risk. However, even after the extinguishing works were completed, field teams continued to keep the area under careful observation against the risk of a possible flare-up.

The extent of the material and environmental devastation caused by the disaster also began to become clear as a result of the initial examinations. In official statements and field detections, it was observed that a total of 20 hectares of forested area burned to ashes in the fire, leaving ecological damage that would take years to compensate. In addition, 40 hectares of agricultural land in the regions where the flames spread suffered heavy damage, leaving the local farmers in a difficult situation. These losses mean a serious blow in terms of both the natural balance of the region and the economic welfare of the local population. Relevant institutions announced that they would carry out studies to provide the necessary support to the affected farmers and the local people.

The source and cause of the fire have not yet been fully clarified, and an investigation has been launched into the matter. Crime scene investigation teams and gendarmerie experts are conducting a meticulous study in the area to determine whether the fire was caused by intentional arson, negligence, or a technical failure. Evidence is being collected during the investigation process, taking into account the possibility of any negligence or deliberate initiation. Authorities strongly recommend that the public be more vigilant to prevent such seasonal and environmental fires and refrain from lighting any open fires in forested areas. Increasing all security measures to prevent such disasters from recurring is at the top of the region's most important agenda items.
