Gana Bisiklet Federasyonu Added Three Cycling Events to the 2027 UCI Calendar

The Gana Bisiklet Federasyonu (GCF) announced that the country's three most important road cycling events have been officially recorded in the 2027 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) calendar. According to the statement made by the Federation, this important step will significantly strengthen the country's presence in the international cycling scene. Furthermore, this development offers local cyclists a unique opportunity to earn world ranking points. In the official statement signed by GCF General Secretary Shaaban Mohammed, it was emphasized that the Federation has assumed a pioneering role in the development of road cycling in English-speaking West African countries. The Federation hopes that this historic achievement will accelerate cycling sports across the entire West African region.

Federation officials extended their gratitude to all institutions and organizations that supported them in achieving this success. The International Cycling Union (UCI) and the African Cycling Confederation stand out among those thanked. In addition, the Gana Olimpiyat Komitesi, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, and various sponsors are among the significant stakeholders in the federation's journey to success. It was noted that these partnerships play a critical role in the training of athletes, as well as coaches, commissaires, and technical officials. The Federation believes that such collaborations are essential for a sustainable sports infrastructure.

The Gana Bisiklet Federasyonu aims to grow the sport of cycling not only internationally but also domestically. Currently, 27 different cycling clubs affiliated with the federation are actively operating in 10 out of Gana's 16 regions. As part of efforts to expand the sport at the grassroots level, it was learned that three new clubs are in the process of being established in other regions. This expansion strategy specifically aims to discover talented young athletes and prepare them for the international arena. By increasing the number of clubs, the Federation aims to spread cycling culture throughout all of Gana.
