Tanker overturns on D-817 highway in Hatay, driver taken to hospital

In Hatay's Erzin district, Yeşiltepe locality, on the D-817 highway, a heavy-tonnage tanker loaded with fuel skidded out of control and overturned. In the accident, which occurred after the driver lost steering control for an as-yet-undetermined reason, a portion of the fuel in the vehicle spilled onto the road.

The tanker driver, who was injured in the accident, was dispatched to the nearest health facility after initial treatment at the scene. While security forces took extensive security measures in the area against possible fire risks, environmental cleanup and rescue efforts were also swiftly initiated.

Special cleaning teams are conducting work on the road, which has become slippery due to the fuel spilled on it. On this route, known for its winding structure and where similar accidents have occurred in the past, security units have launched an investigation to determine whether the accident was caused by a technical failure or speed.
