22 people detained in fake gold operation in 10 provinces centered on Kahramanmaraş.

A large-scale operation centered on Kahramanmaraş and covering ten provinces has completed the legal processes regarding suspects detained on allegations of producing and selling fake gold. Within the scope of the detailed investigation carried out by law enforcement units, a total of 69 suspects, including the managers of the organization, were detained and the necessary evidence was collected against them. This operation has gone down in history as one of the most recent and striking examples of the fight against economic crimes throughout the country.

The detained suspects were referred to judicial authorities after the completion of their procedures at the police station, and as a result of the investigation conducted by the prosecutor's office, they were brought before the judge. During the trial process conducted by the court, the severity of the suspects' criminal history, the nature of the evidence, and their rate of participation in counterfeiting activities were carefully scrutinized. As a result of the examinations, a decision was made to deprive a large majority of the suspects for whom a detention request was evaluated of their freedom.

Consequently, in accordance with the decision made by the court, out of the 69 people in detention, 22 were arrested and decided to be placed in prison, while judicial control provisions or a decision to release were applied for the remaining 47 people. It was stated that the decision for the 22 arrested people was made upon determining that they played an active role in the process of producing and releasing fake gold to the market and determining their place in the hierarchy of the organization. This situation indicates that the main suspects targeted by the operation have been neutralized.

In official statements made regarding the issue, it was shared that the criminal organization used detected casting and molding methods professionally, releasing mixed metals to the market as real gold and thus trying to obtain high amounts of unjust profits. Authorities emphasized that the counterfeiting activity in question poses a serious threat to the financial system and that operations will continue decisively to prevent such incidents. It was expressed that technical examinations of the fake golds released to the market are still ongoing and that the forensic medicine institution and experts are working to prepare technical reports.

On the other hand, it was announced that a large number of casting molds, chemical substances, various scrap golds and fake gold pieces were seized within the scope of the operation, and the examination of these materials has begun. According to the information obtained, detailed financial and physical examinations are continuing to determine the amount of fake products supplied to the market through the network under their dominance. In order to deepen the investigation, the testimonies of the suspects tried without detention were also resorted to, and it was recorded that work has been accelerated to shed light on other dimensions of the operation. This process has a deterrent quality for other networks that may attempt similar crimes.
