Car Crashed into Truck in Karabük: 1 Dead, 8 Injured

The traffic accident that occurred around 14.15 in the afternoon at Kemikli Rampaları location on the D-755 highway caused great sorrow and panic in the region. According to obtained information and statements from witnesses, a car traveling in the direction from Gerede to Çankırı hit a truck moving in the same direction from behind with great force. Due to the impact of the collision, the car lost control and became stuck under the trailer attached to the truck, becoming unusable, and other drivers who realized the severity of the accident ran to the scene.

It was determined that one of the 9 people in the vehicle at the time of the accident, most of whom were children, lost their life and others were injured to varying degrees. It was learned that the person who lost their life by being trapped inside the car was Yakup Yamak (46), the spouse of the driver Melek Yamak, and after the prosecutor's examination, the body was removed from its location and taken to the Eskipazar State Hospital morgue for autopsy. It was reported that among the injured were the driver Melek Yamak and her children, and investigations were continuing regarding whether their lives were in danger.

Health, gendarmerie, police, and fire crews who immediately arrived at the scene, with the help of citizens running to the scene, tried to get the injured out of the vehicle and take them to the roadside. The terrified screams and cries of the children in the vehicle deeply affected everyone at the scene, and those around made intense efforts to calm these children. After the first intervention at the scene, the injured were taken to Karabük Training and Research Hospital by ambulances for treatment.

Driver Melek Yamak, who experienced a great trauma during this tragic event, suffered a nervous breakdown by shouting "My God, I did it" and tried to console her injured daughter while also trying to learn about her spouse's condition from those around her. The condition of the family members and children under the shock of the event broke the hearts of onlookers. Despite the efforts of the teams, the road, which was closed to traffic for a while, was reopened to traffic after the vehicles were safely removed.

Finally, in the statements made, it was stated that the Gendarmerie and Regional Traffic teams started a detailed investigation regarding the accident and the exact cause of the accident was being investigated. Authorities warned drivers traveling on winding and ramp roads, especially to follow the following distance and adjust their speed according to road conditions. The latest information regarding the condition of the injured was that Amine Uğur, Havsa Gül Yamak, Elif Sare Yamak, and Akça Uğur were continuing their treatment in the hospital.
