CSTO chief discusses strengthening Tajikistan-Afghanistan border security

CSTO Secretary-General Taalatbek Masadykov visited Tajikistan to discuss the implementation of a joint border security program aimed at strengthening the Tajik-Afghan frontier. During the visit, he inspected border outposts, a crossing point, and a new road in the mountainous Shuroobod area. The talks focused on improving surveillance, infrastructure, and coordination among member states under the CSTO's long-term program. Since the Taliban's return to power in 2021, Tajikistan has warned of fragile border security due to militant groups in northern Afghanistan, though the Taliban denies these allegations.
