Kurti Emphasized Foreign Policy at the US’s 250th Independence Anniversary

Kosova Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in a statement on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America, drew attention to the deep historical ties between the two countries and conveyed his thanks for the support provided to Kosova and Arnavutluk. In his message conveyed on the occasion of Independence Day, Kurti drew a strong parallel between the founding ideals of the US and Kosova’s aspirations, recalling once again the critical role Washington played in the international recognition of Kosova’s sovereignty. In his congratulatory message addressed to US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the US’s position not only as an ally but also as the strongest defender of freedom and democracy values on the world stage. It was stated that this special day is not only a celebration for the American people, but also for other nations that gained their freedom with the support of the US.

Continuing his message, Kurti touched upon historical ties, expressing that the US is Kosova’s most reliable partner and that this relationship is shaped not only militarily or diplomatically, but also based on values. He added that Kosova has successfully managed the process since the founding of the republic with the guidance and support of the US, and that this cooperation has been a determining factor in strengthening Kosova’s state structure. The Prime Minister emphasized that the solidarity shown by the US in difficult processes in the past holds an unforgettable place in the memory of the Kosova people and that this feeling of gratitude will be passed on to future generations.

Kurti stated that the US not only recognized Kosova’s independence but also always acted as a friend and ally in its relations with Arnavutluk, referring to the efforts for establishing regional stability and peace. It was stated that the US’s strategic vision in the Balkans focuses on the peace and prosperity of all Arnavut lands, regardless of ethnic and linguistic differences, and that this inclusive approach strengthens the bonds of brotherhood in the region. It was announced that in addition to the trade and military cooperation between the two countries, it is aimed to further deepen educational and cultural exchange to bring the two peoples closer. It was evaluated that the deep-rooted relations between the US and Arnavutluk enable Kosova to feel part of this large family and that this tri-lateral relationship forms the basis of future strategic partnerships.

Sharing his expectations for the future as well, Kurti stated that the dialogue with the US administration increases not only bilateral relations but also the capacity to act together against global challenges. He expressed that Kosova’s determination to strengthen the rule of law, market economy, and democratic institutions is a reflection of a common vision with the US, and every step in this direction will benefit both parties. Emphasizing their will to further strengthen Kosova’s own democratic institutions by utilizing the US’s 250 years of democracy experience, he stated that they wish to benefit from the experience and knowledge of US partners during this process. The Prime Minister added that the loyalty of the two countries to their common values determines their stance against global challenges and that this partnership will strengthen further against new challenges.
