Lula criticized selective leaks in the Banco Master scandal and called for an ethics code for the judiciary

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made his first public statement regarding the Banco Master scandal, emphasizing that the country must not remain a "hostage to selective leaks." Lula described the scandal as the biggest theft in Brazil's history, affecting millions of citizens and potentially involving judges, calling on the Supreme Court (STF) and the Prosecutor General's Office to initiate a transparent investigation process.

While proposing an ethics code for the judiciary, the President criticized, without naming them directly, the relationships revealed in recent days between Daniel Vorcaro, the central figure in the scandal, and Supreme Court Justices Alexandre de Moraes and André Mendonça. Lula argued that "everyone must be investigated without amnesty for anyone" and that a firm and transparent stance is essential to ensure the respectability of institutions.

At the height of the crisis, Lula held separate meetings with Supreme Court President Edson Fachin and Justice Gilmar Mendes to assess the internal court climate. These meetings took place during a sensitive period regarding the balance between judicial autonomy and executive power.
