Malta Prime Minister Robert Abela described the newly formed Cabinet and Parliamentary Group as the strongest team in the history of the İşçi Hareketi. Pledging to start fulfilling election promises in the first days of the new legislative term, Abela emphasized that they are preparing to respond to the trust the public has placed in them. Speaking at a welcome reception held before the İşçi Partisi's ordinary general assembly, Abela thanked the party delegates and activists. Stating that thanks to their dedicated work, the İşçi Partisi achieved its fourth consecutive general election victory, he expressed that this is a historic success. Abela stated that this victory brings great responsibility and that the government is ready to immediately begin implementing the measures included in its election manifesto.

Among the first reforms the government will prioritize is expanding access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments. In this context, it is planned to make 16 additional medical conditions eligible for the PGT-M genetic test. This step is expected to help more families reduce the risk of having children with genetic diseases. The Prime Minister stated that the government will continue to support families by fulfilling its commitments in the field of reproductive rights and health services. It is considered that this expansion will bring new hope to many couples who were previously excluded from the treatments. Furthermore, it is anticipated that this reform will add another to Malta's innovative health policies.

Another significant reform announced by Prime Minister Abela will be carried out in the field of urban and city planning. Accordingly, the aim is to prevent construction works from starting while a building permit is under appeal before a commission or court. This regulation is stated to be aimed at putting an end to hasty demolition and construction practices that are frequently debated and cause social tension. With this step, the government aims to better protect citizens' rights and respect the operation of legal processes. Promising to increase transparency and justice in urban policies, the government also plans to reduce irregularities in the construction sector. It is known that these reforms are among the measures long demanded by environmentalists and civil society against the increasing construction pressure in Malta in recent years.

In the new period, during which significant steps are planned to be taken in the field of equality, the goal is for Malta to reclaim the top spot in ILGA-Avrupa's annual LGBTIQ rights ranking. Abela stated that the government will resolutely continue its egalitarian policies and further advance reforms in this area. Malta previously held a leading position in Europe regarding the rights of LGBTIQ individuals, but in recent years, progress made by some countries in this field had led to changes in the ranking. In the context of social policy, the government promises an expansionary budget containing comprehensive measures to support families, youth, businesses, first-time homebuyers, self-employed individuals, and retirees. Announcing that the upcoming budget will be progressive and inclusive, Abela stated that they aim for economic growth to spread fairly across all segments of society.

The İşçi Partisi's general assembly opens on Tuesday and will conclude on 2 July, with delegates expected to endorse the party leadership. It is stated that this congress will mark the official start of the party's fourth term and will create a platform where the policies of the coming years will be shaped. Prime Minister Abela will have the opportunity to meet with delegates at the congress to detail the new term's strategies and reform agenda. The new Cabinet members are also expected to provide information about the duties and visions of their respective ministries through their speeches at the congress. Considering the expectations and criticisms from different segments of society, how quickly and successfully the government will implement this ambitious reform agenda will soon be a matter of curiosity.
