34 Suspects Arrested in Operations Held in Muğla in June

Teams from the Narcotic Crimes Branch Department operating under the Muğla Provincial Police Department conducted an intensive and determined effort throughout June to prevent drug sales and use throughout the province. The teams implemented operational plans aimed at identifying individuals who facilitated drug trade by conducting technical and physical surveillance of suspects at various points in the city. Within this framework, simultaneous raids were conducted at determined addresses, and a large-scale operation was carried out to arrest individuals considered to be street dealers and wanted persons. While the message was given during the operations that the determination in the fight against drug trade would continue, it was emphasized that activities would continue unabated for the peace and security of the public.

In light of the physical and technical evidence obtained during the operations carried out by law enforcement officers, legal proceedings were initiated against many suspects and detention decisions were made. The detained suspects were sent to prison to be arrested by the judicial authorities to whom they were referred after their statements at the police units. During the studies continuing throughout June, a total of 34 suspects were decided to be arrested, while it was learned that there were those who were banned from going abroad and those released under judicial control conditions. As a result of the operations, large quantities of drugs and materials facilitating sales were seized, taking them out of the hands of poisonous traders before they could be released into the market.

Within the scope of the investigations conducted under the coordination of the Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, analyzes were made regarding the nature and quantity of the seized drugs, and it was determined that the range of crime dates of the suspects expanded. Police teams aimed to collapse a chain structure by carrying out operations not only against street dealers but also against high-level organizations that supplied and distributed drugs. In this direction, it was noted that the income obtained from drug trade was not legally obtained and legal action would be taken on the value of the material that constituted the crime. Considering whether the suspects accepted or rejected the accusations in their interrogations at the police station, strong evidence was presented within the scope of the file presented to the judicial authorities.

It was stated that the biggest supporter in the fight against drug addiction is the sensitivity of every segment of the society, and it was stated that the security and narcotics teams of the Muğla Police Department would continue their work on a 7/24 basis. It was conveyed that the work did not slow down in increasing preventive activities to protect youth, especially in tourist areas and around educational institutions, and providing awareness training. Considering that the individuals arrested in similar operations in previous months were punished at the upper limits foreseen by the laws, it was predicted that the new practices would also be effective in terms of deterrence. Muğla police shared with the public that no concessions would be made in the fight against crime and criminals and that all necessary measures would be used to keep the security level in the city at the highest level.

In order to minimize the negative effects of drug use on public health and family structure, it was emphasized that the operations in Muğla had not only a preventive but also an educational dimension. The police invited citizens to call the Alo 155 line to give information and report suspicious situations, stating that every report was carefully examined and turned into operational information. It was stated that plans were prepared for the successes achieved in June to continue increasing in July and signals of new operations were given. As a result, it was understood that the 34 arrests were an encouraging success in line with the Muğla Provincial Police Department's zero-tolerance principle against narcotic crimes, but that the struggle is a continuous and dynamic process.
