Nepal Bhotekoshi Flood Disaster: 1,068 Bodies Found, 4,606 Missing

In the major flood disaster that occurred on Wednesday, August 26, in the Bhotekoshi River in Nepal's Rasuwa district, the death toll has reached 1,068. According to the Police General Directorate, among the bodies found are 30 male children, 35 female children, 232 women, and 371 men. Rescue teams continue search operations.

Information regarding the lives of 4,606 people has still not been received, and these individuals have been declared missing. Authorities state that rescue operations are difficult due to the severity of the flood and the region's challenging geography. Weather conditions are also negatively affecting search and rescue activities.

The Nepalese government declared a state of emergency for the disaster area and began accepting international aid. Temporary shelters were set up, and health teams were dispatched to the region. The Meteorological Department warns that rain will continue in the coming days and the risk of secondary floods persists.
