In Nepal flood disaster, 616 people died, 320 Hindistan citizens still missing

On 26 August 2026, a sudden violent flood and then a landslide occurred at the Nepal-Tibet border. In the incident, the number of those who lost their lives rose to 616, while approximately 2.000 people remain missing. Emergency teams are having difficulty reaching affected areas due to the destruction of roads and bridges.

The Hindistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that 320 Hindistan citizens are still missing and that 84 of them have been rescued. Among the rescued are 21 citizens from Tamil Nadu and workers of the Trisholi-Van project. The risk of a sudden burst of a lake formed due to the flood in Tibet is on the agenda, which creates the possibility of a secondary flood. International aid is flowing to the region, but rainfall is complicating rescue operations.
