Pakistan Accountability Bureau Investigating Billion-Rupee Corruption Allegations in Matiari

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of Pakistan has launched a detailed investigation into allegations of corruption worth billions of rupees allegedly involved in development projects in the Matiari region. This investigation follows reports that significant amounts of public funds allocated for infrastructure and public welfare programs may have been misused during the execution of various government projects. As part of the investigation, the NAB has moved to collect and examine official records from the Departments of Works and Services, and Highways and Education Works. As part of the ongoing investigation, the NAB has issued official directives to the three relevant departments to submit complete documentation regarding development projects carried out between 2012 and 2017. Investigators are following a methodology where information in the documents will be compared with actual work on the ground to detect potential inconsistencies, inflated costs, incomplete projects, or suspicious financial operations.
