Peru Prosecutor's Office Expands Extradition Scope of Erick Moreno, Known as 'The Monster'

The Special Prosecutor's Office Against Organized Crime, operating in the Northwestern region of Peru's capital Lima, has taken a significant step to expand the extradition process of the suspect named Erick Moreno Hernández. The scope of the cases filed against Moreno, known by the nickname 'Monstruo' (Monster), has been officially enlarged so that he can be tried in Peru. Authorities have determined that the scope of the crimes attributed to the suspect is not limited to a single incident and spans a much broader area. This expansion decision is considered part of ongoing comprehensive operations aimed at dismantling organized crime networks in the country. Authorities state that they aim to consolidate all charges the suspect will face under a single umbrella to ensure that justice is fully served.

According to the new file prepared by the Prosecutor's Office, the crimes allegedly committed by Moreno in Peru are primarily headed by acts of establishing and managing a criminal organization. In addition, the suspect is alleged to have been involved in extremely violent crimes such as attempted murder and grievous bodily harm resulting in death. Furthermore, it is stated that he engaged in criminal acts involving systematic extortion and threats against local merchants and citizens. It was noted that the mentioned illegal activities and violent incidents are predominantly concentrated in the northern regions of Lima. In a statement made by the authorities, it was emphasized that the criminal activities were specifically carried out in the districts of Ancón, Independencia, and Puente Piedra. These three districts are among the primary areas of focus for Peruvian authorities due to recent increases in security issues and gang activities. The threat to the safety of the local population and the disruption of public order have prompted authorities to take stricter measures. Security forces continue their efforts, also with the support of the local community, to expose and completely dismantle the criminal organizations in these districts.

This decision, obtained as a result of the Prosecutor's Office's initiatives, will ensure that the suspect, codenamed 'Monstruo', is brought from abroad to Peru to account for all the charges he faces.
