International world-renowned expert assigned for the mystery of the crocodile seen in the lake in Pistoia.

A large-scale operation has been launched in the city of Pistoia, Italy, to catch a crocodile allegedly seen in an artificial lake in the Masiano region about a month and a half ago. Olivier Behra, a famous crocodile expert and naturalist from France, was invited to the area to find the mysterious reptile at the center of the incident. With Behra's appointment, authorities constructed a specially designed cage in accordance with the expert's directives to ensure the animal can be captured. While security measures in the area are being increased, photo traps are being placed around the lake to try to detect the crocodile's presence.

The origins of the story date back to the allegations and photos taken by a worker doing cleaning work on the shores of the lake, which is a vivarium belonging to the Reali company, in the middle of May. However, due to the prevalence of artificial intelligence use and the increase in digital alterations, this visual material and the testimony aroused suspicion in many people. Despite this, Italian authorities took the situation seriously, activated necessary security protocols, and launched an investigation around the lake. The installation of photo trap systems and the securing of the area strengthen the idea that the claims are not entirely a legend and could pose a concrete security risk.

According to information in the media, internationally recognized crocodile hunter Olivier Behra visited the lake yesterday, made his first inspections, and started the operation. Behra, known for his numerous expeditions on the African continent and his expertise in mapping reptile populations, is seen as the most suitable person to undertake this difficult task. Search efforts continue in the body of water, referred to as a pond but actually consisting of an old quarry, with a surface area of two hectares and a depth of 15 meters. It is stated that Behra will use a small motorized boat to find the animal and conduct a detailed scan of the surrounding area.

The capture strategy is based on first detecting the reptile's location and then rendering the animal controllable with a specially produced cage. The metal-framed cage, approximately four meters long and slightly more than a meter high, prepared in accordance with the expert's instructions, is held on the water surface by four floats on its sides. The system has a mechanism designed to close automatically if the crocodile enters, and a steel cable is attached to a large hook to be used as bait. This method aims to capture the animal without harming it so that an examination can be carried out.

It is recalled that a similar case occurred in Greece twelve years ago and the capture operation at that time was unsuccessful. It is emphasized that the operation in Pistoia is an important test both for public safety and the local ecosystem. Experts are of the opinion that if the crocodile, estimated to be about two and a half meters long and between three and four years old, is found, it will turn from a mere rumor into a concrete reality. Behra's experiences and the special equipment used stand out as the most important factors that will ensure the definitive determination of whether the crocodile is really there, even if an unexpected result is obtained.
